Size
In general double pushchairs are larger than single models - particularly when they're side-by-side buggies, like the Kolcraft Geo 3 and UPPAbaby Vista 2. The good news is that this extra width enables them to accommodate heavier children without straining the chassis. They also have other key features that help them stand out, such as generously-sized pop-out canopies with SPF 50 and windows that peek out and swivel lock front wheels that make it easier to navigate tight areas like shopping aisles cups with a single parent holder, an innovative fold mechanism that can be done with one hand; and 10-inch back wheels that aren't designed for rough terrain, but can manage city streets and theme parks quite well.
These buggies that are lightweight are surprisingly affordable.
Weight

Flexibility
A double buggy that is well-designed will provide a great deal of flexibility, no matter if you have twins or an infant and a toddler. Narrow tandem buggies are great to fit into narrow spaces, while side by side models will keep your children well-cared for and help you to keep your eyes on them as you navigate the supermarket or the park. Many also have a wide selection of seating options which allows you to alter them as your children develop, and some offer the option of adding a ride-on board or car seat.
The Joie Evalite Duo is a great example. It can be used to support two seats, or a car seat. The adaptors let you convert a single seat to a double in merely minutes. It also has a nice-sized pop-out UPF 50+ sunshade that can be used as a canopy, adjustable leg rests and peekaboo windows in both seats; an easy standing fold that is simple and quick to fold with one hand; and a premium suspension that can take care of rough terrain.

Tandem buggies typically have your children seated together, which can make them easier to push and more sturdy on uneven surfaces, but they can be difficult to maneuver up and down kerbs. They usually have a wider footprint than a single-seater pushchair, and may be a bit longer for getting through doorways.
